Mississippi State Horse Show

Quinn competed in the Mississippi State Horse Show this weekend and she did a wonderful job! Just look how cute my little cowgirl is!! She and Sara Rodgers had such fun playing together and getting themselves and their ponies ready.

Tyndale had fun eating nachos...and getting cheese ALL over his face! After the first day we got to eat a yummy sushi lunch with Big Daddy and Gimmie.
Her class was the first event the next day, so we got up before the sun and headed to Jackson. We saw the most beautiful harvest moon as we were pulling onto I-55. We watched the sun come up and talked about 9/11 and what happened ten years ago. I didn't plan on answering the question, "Why does God make bad people like Osama Bin Laden?" before 6 am (!) but I thoroughly enjoyed talking with her about heroes of 9/11, terrorists, security and defense of the US, etc. and hearing her thoughts about all of that. As she grows, her world is growing too and I love to be able to have these conversations with her.
Here is Quinn the getting ready for the Leadline competition. She won a trophy in this event!

Afterwards Quinn and I ate brunch at Broad Street Bakery..look at that waffle..mmm! Fun weekend of "Horse-backin" as Tyndale calls it.

around the house

This picture just cracked me up...I found them like this one afternoon...in the toy closet. How funny!

We had a very crafty day...Quinn asked me how to make a friendship bracelet, so I dusted off my 7th grade skills and showed her. And to keep Tyndale busy I set up this little pom pom and pincher activity. He loves picking up stuff with our kitchen tongs all the time, so I thought I would let him practice with something small and seeing if he could get it in the jar. He loved it...until he found it much more fun to see how far he could throw them...he IS a two-year-old boy after all!

Kids Workshop

Here we are getting ready to build our 2nd Kids Workshop project at Home Depot...a message board.

They successfully made the message boards and had so much fun! It is so hands-on and I love the skills they are learning. They even got a badge for that project...we will be back next month.

Fun times with T

Since Quinn has gone back to school, Tyndale and I have had some fun times at home. Here are a few pictures of what we have been up to during our days at home...lots of guitar playing and mess making. The boots he is wearing here are part of his Halloween costume...he found them and has not taken them off since!

Above he is window painting with bubbles. We are working on learning colors, so we did some shaving cream play and colored it with food coloring. This was FUN!

All Aboard!

Tyndale looooves the train. He always hears the train whistle when it goes through town and he always notices when we drive over railroad tracks anywhere in town. I had been promising him all summer that one day we would go for a ride on the train...and we did! Here we are waiting to meet our train, The City of New Orleans. Brookhaven just opened it's new transportation center and the building is so cool! Here is Quinn by the ticket booth.

Here we are waiting by the tracks...Tyndale is sporting his infamous "cheese" face. Contrary to the way it looks, he is actually having fun.
And here we are on the train at last! It was so fun for them to see the sights of Brookhaven whizzing past. The conductor who punched our tickets (this was a big deal for T!) took us down to the lounge car...the windows in there go from the floor to the ceiling, so the view is really great! Plus they gave them train badges and a bunch of coloring books.

After just a few more minutes, we reached our destination...McComb. We spent some time checking out this retired train, especially the caboose. Daddy picked us up at the train station there and then we went to eat lunch at the Dinner Bell. What a fun day!

Tyndale's first day at school

Tyndale was so excited to start school! He is in the 2's class at FPK and Mrs. Holly is his teacher. Blue Boy accompanied him for the first day, and I feel like he will be a frequent visitor. (I remember that BunBun came until about mid-way through the 3's for Quinn!)

Here he is with James...how fun! To have your cousin in your class! Afterwards, we took him out to lunch at his favorite dining spot, Bowie's.

Quinn has been loving 1st grade, and especially Mrs. Cox! She is learning a lot and reading up a storm!

Girls Trip

I swear, we get worse and worse about taking pictures on our girls trip! This year not ONE on the beach...and not ONE all together! Pitiful! Especially since we spent about 99% of our time TOGETHER and ON THE BEACH! Yes, this first picture is from the FloraBama. That place is total entertainment!

We always love to eat out...and here we are at Louisiana Lagniappe and Cobalt. We really did spend a ton of time on the beach and it was super relaxing! We couldn't help but laugh at the crazy people who were taking the banana boat rides in the ocean..WAY out in the water. We saw three people fall off and we said that we would DIE if we were out in the water that far. Well, it just so happens that the last night we were there...we got brave and rode the boat. It was so scary! Patti was hilariously scared. But we all made it without falling off! Crazy people...

creative fun

The hard drive on my computer went out and the Dell man came to replace it. In the process he also installed a new keyboard. Look what Quinn did with the old one! It cracked me up that she knew to put Google on there! ha! so creative!

Tyndale has also been exercising his creativity. Here he is making "dinner" for me...mmmm...mashed up bananas and tomatoes, with a healthy amount of pepper to taste. Delicious.

While I was on my girls' trip, Brad took the kids to Home Depot one Saturday morning and they went to the Kids Workshop. They LOVED it! Their project was a pencil box. They got to hammer and put it together. They also got cool aprons and a pins for completing that project. They are looking forward to the next project!

nighty night!

Just a peek at bedtime at our house. We love to end the day reading books together. Quinn has always loved the I Spy and Waldo series, and we pull them out occasionally. Tyndale is really into the "Cwiffowd the Wed Dawg" (as he calls it) books.

funny faces

Remember how we used to do this with grapes in our mouths to look like the joker? We laughed at this forever at dinner the other night! In this shot you can see how her big bottom teeth are coming right up behind her littles. And her bottom front baby teeth are really wiggly now! We might have a visit from the tooth fairy very soon!

Zoo 2 U

Quinn and Elise had such a great week at Zoo 2 U camp in Folsom, Louisiana. They had every kind of animal that you can imagine and the kids were involved with them all day, every day! Here are the girls standing in front of the snake cage...they later got to hold him.

This baby goat (born just the week before) was making us laugh because he kept standing on the pigs and then jumping off.

 They took several camel rides!

Not only was Zoo 2 U super fun, but staying with the Parnells was too! The picture above was a show they put on for us...I think it is safe to say that Justin Beiber's "Baby" was the big hit for the week. :) It was also fun for Quinn to play with Boss, the Parnell's adorable dog. Nicole and I had fun too and got to visit a lot. David even let us go out for sushi one night at our fave...Megumi! Quinn and I are so thankful that we got to have this opportunity and that we were able to visit with such wonderful friends!
